I'm Luis Felipe, and together with my brother Juan Alejandro, we're bringing you Rios de Oro Coffee—high-quality, 100% Castillo beans straight from our family farms in Colombia's stunning Caldas region. Growing at altitudes above 4,300 feet, our coffee delivers a smooth yet complex flavor that I'm incredibly proud to share with you.
Our journey started with La Lucia, a farm that's been in our family for over 50 years. It's more than just a coffee farm—it's where we've gathered for holidays and created countless memories. Today, both La Lucia and our second farm, La Esperanza, continue as a family project that directly supports our workers' families. Every bean is handpicked, carefully processed and roasted, then promptly shipped to the US to ensure you get the freshest brew possible.
After growing up in Colombia, my brother and I now call South Dakota home, where we balance our careers—I'm a bridge engineer and STEM advocate, while Juan Alejandro works as an architect—with running this family coffee business. It's our way of staying connected to our roots while sharing Colombia's wonders with you.
Just as I'm passionate about empowering engineers to become leaders, I'm equally committed to bringing you exceptional coffee that tells our family's story. Whether you're fueling your morning engineering work or sharing a moment with loved ones, I invite you to experience the taste of Colombia through Rios de Oro.
May your coffee be strong and sweet,
Luis Felipe Duque
