Greatest Joy

My life has been somewhat chaotic for the past 8 months! You probably have seen that within that span of time I graduated with an M.S., got an internship, our first baby boy was born, Callie graduated, accepted my first full-time job in Colorado, and moved to Boulder. All of this just makes me think of how many times I told myself after (insert meaningful life event here) life will be calmer. Thankfully it has never become true. Callie and I joke about this and how we are not the kind of people that like to sit around doing nothing!
The biggest lesson I have learned from all of this is how much I enjoying being active. I have already joined a couple engineering organizations here in Colorado and been active in their projects to help communities in need around the world. I am settling down at my new job where I have learned so much in just a few weeks and Callie, Leo, and I have explored the Rocky Mountains!
My point with this note is that no matter what you do in life, there will be something bigger coming your way. Nevertheless, if you just sit around and hope for something great to happen, you are in for big disappointment. The biggest advice I can give people is to go out and look for opportunities, pursue your dreams, and surround yourself with people willing to go the extra mile.
There have been many instances in my life where I didn’t know where I was heading, but I knew that with the help of God and with the efforts I was making, something great was about to come. Always remember that connecting the dots looking forward is near impossible, but once you look back at how everything turned out you will see His time is perfect.
Remember to always enjoy the present and cherish the past for what it is. We learn from our mistakes but the greatest joy happens in the PRESENT.
