Callie and I just celebrated four years of marriage. We have had a lot of ups and downs over these past four years, and we wanted to celebrate by recording an episode together. We both are very organized people that like to have a lot of rules about how we operate which has made for some interesting conversations in the past. We do a lot of planning each week at our weekly “Porch Talk” meeting so we can properly get everything done each week.

Despite all of this, there are still a lot of things we need to work on, but we strive to communicate and continually learn what works for us as a couple and family. In this episode, we also talk about Callie’s journey of becoming a mother after finishing undergrad, becoming a PhD student, and pivoting multiple times to now be a working mother that is devoted to her family.

I really enjoyed recording this episode (despite all the retakes because we could not contain our laughter) and hope you got some value from our story.

What you will learn in this episode

  • How Callie and I plan our week
  • Callie’s journey from mother to PhD student to work-from-home mom
  • The importance of setting boundaries and finding meaning in what we do
  • Why women can be devoted to family and work
  • The importance of communication with your significant other
