Coming from a hispanic household all the way to a full-time program manager role at Microsoft is definitely not easy. And when you consider that only 2% of the people in tech are women, it gets even more challenging. These life achievements, however, can come along with its own set of personal and mental struggles.

Today, Gina Moreno elaborates on her life story as a Latina and first-generation college graduate making the transition from school to the corporate world. With an engineering background and her role in tech, she talks about what it’s like to be the only woman (and latina) in the room, the struggles that come from it, how she deals with them, and the biggest challenge for latinos in the US workforce.

Gina Moreno is a first generation college graduate and first generation American from El Paso, Texas. She obtained a B.S in Industrial Engineering and a M. S. in Systems Engineering.

On her journey to become a program manager at Microsoft, she has gained the mission of bringing underrepresented communities to the decision table. Her purpose is to empower women and the Latinx community by making them aware of the blind spots faced when navigating their dreams on their own.
