Stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues have been around for some time. And the last couple of years haven’t made this scenario any better — just the opposite. So today, Elyssa Dixon from fleeceandforests jumps on the show to discuss an alternative, easy way to deal with this situation.
An engineer by training and with experience in the field, she had her share of struggles with anxiety and depression throughout those years. The solution that worked best for her was not usual antidepressants, though; it was mindfulness practices. Tune in to learn what it is and how it can help you navigate those tough, stressful periods.
As Elyssa puts it, “If you do any mindfulness practice, you can change your brain in the same way that stress is changing your brain.”
Elyssa Dixon is a registered Professional Engineer, mindfulness and meditation coach, and founder of fleeceandforests, LLC. She graduated from Cornell University in 2012 with her BS in Environmental Engineering and worked in consulting for almost 8 years before realizing that her passion lies in helping others succeed.
Elyssa's mindfulness practice profoundly changed her life by improving her wellbeing, making her a better leader and team member, and strengthening her purpose. She trained as a meditation and mindfulness teacher and developed and presented leadership training sessions focused on personal growth and leadership skills utilizing her unique understanding of the engineering world coupled with mindfulness.
